"Inna Ataina kal kausar" This verse from Surah Kausar is generally believed to be meant for Bibi Zehra(s.a).But it does has a greater meaning and is applicable to all the Imams(a.s) too who are the descendants of Hazrat Mohammed Mustafa(s.a.w.s).
Each and every child of the Ahlul Bayt(a.s) was as sweet as kausar and beneficial too. They were good for all the believers just like the kausar in heaven. They were good for their parents and all other Muslims who were righteous. One such Imam is remembered today Hazrat Musa al Kazim(a.s).
Hazrat Musa al Kazim(a.s) was the seventh Imam(a.s).He was the son of Hazrat Imam Jafar as Sadiq(a.s).He learnt all that he could from his father Imam as Sadiq(a.s) till the age of twenty. At age twenty his father was no more in this world.Imam Musa al Kazim(a.s) was then made Imam by his father in his last will.Imam Musa al Kazim(a.s) was loved by many Shia Muslims as he loved so many people justly and equitably. He secretly gave them gifts. He never even mentioned about it to anyone. He liked to see people happy. All the orphans and poor used to come to his door for help.He was a generous man.He never scolded them and always gave them something or the other. He never returned them empty handed. As he gained popularity because of his quiet way of doing Ibadat and generosity, the kings of his time became envious of him.
He was arrested in Masjid e Nabawi in Medina just after he had said his prayers. They did not allow him to say tasbih. His tasbih was pulled in such a harsh manner that his fingers were injured. The man who pulled had long nails. He was taken to a prison in Basra. As Imam(a.s) was very pious and always said his prayers ,people there started respecting him and the man in charge of the prison started respecting the Imam(a.s).He wrote a letter to the king mentioning his love for the Imam(a.s) and wrote he could no longer keep the Imam(a.s) in prison. When the king got the letter he sent a few voilent people to frighten the people in Basra and arrest the Imam and bring him to a prison in Baghdad.
Imam Musa al Kazim(a.s) lived in the prison in Baghdad for four years totalling his imprisonment to a span of approximately nineteen years. Here too the holy Imam(a.s) said his prayers regularly and never complained of the bad behaviour towards him.He was given a very small prison to live in and given little to eat.Imam(a.s) grew weak because of improper and little food. One day he was feeling too much pain due to weakness. As Harun Rashid learnt about it,he pretended to be good and sent a hakeem. But he bribed the hakeem to give poison instead of medicine.Hakeem did as was desired by the lanati harun rashid.
It was 25th of Rajab ,183 Hijri when the Imam(a.s) left for the
heavens. His corpse was not given a burial and left outside the prison on
the bridge of Baghdad.Sulayman a brother of harun rashid showed anger
over humiliating the corpse of a descendant of the Prophet(s.a.w.s) and
immediately sent a message to Imam Ali Raza(a.s) informing him of his
father's demise. When Imam Ali Raza(a.s) got the news of his father,he
cried a lot and rushed to Baghdad to see his father's corpse lying on
the bridge. He got angry ,but controlled his anger and gave Ghusl e
mayyat(obligatory) to his father and buried him wrapping his corpse in a
simple and soft kafan. He did that all himself and cried a lot for what
his father faced. He said the namaz e janaza(funeral prayer) of his
father. He then turned towards Medina to say salaam to the
Prophet(s.a.w.s),cried for him, then turned towards karbala ,remembered
the calamities that befell Imam Husain(a.s) and saluted him.He then
looked at the grave of his father ,cried aloud and fell on his father's
grave saying "Kullo Youmin Ashoora Kullo Arzin Karbala".
