Wiladat of Imam Ali 13 Rajab
Congratulations on the Birth Anniversary of Imam ‘Ali (AS)
بِسْمِ اللهِ الرَّحْمنِ الرَّحِيمِ
On
the Joyous Occasion of the Birth Anniversary of the Master of the
Believers, Ali ibn Abi Talib (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him)
The Message of His Eminence,
Grand Ayatullah Sheikh Basheer Hussain Al-Najafi (may Allah prolong his life)
to the believers,
All praise is for He
Who guided us to the right path; and His peace and blessings be upon the
best of his creation, Abul-Qasim Mohammad ibn Abdillah, and upon his
pure progeny, especially his cousin, Ali Al-Murtadha, his immediate
successor; and may the curse of Allah be upon all their enemies until
the Day of Judgement.
Allah said: “Say: Allah is a sufficient witness between me and you and whoever has the knowledge of the Book.” (13:43)
It was the
tradition of Allah to send with his prophets somebody who would attest
in his favor and support him. It is upon this very tradition that the
Lord sent with the Prophet (s.a.w.a) of Islam somebody who attested to
his prophethood, and bore witness to the faith which he preached. As
long as this witness and attester was not born and as long as such a
person who would bear testimony to the truth according to the
understanding and intellect of the lay people was not available, Allah
did not order His Beloved Prophet to proclaim his prophethood.
No doubt, the birth
of the Master of Believers (a.s.) was that great event which the
Prophet (s.a.w.a.) and his uncle Abu Talib (a.s.) were waiting for. He
was born in the Holy Ka’bah, when its walls split apart with joy to
allow his mother Fatimah Bint Asad (s.a.)in and it became the oyster
which housed the pearl of Imamah. As such, the waiting ended.
Although the Ka’bah
was surrounded externally by the idols of the idolaters, the interior
of the Ka’bah was kept pure from such filth by Allah Almighty. Perhaps
it was so because He wanted the greatness of his birth to be free from
any blemish. Indeed, the occasion of the birth of the Master of
Believers is a great festival and day of joy for the Muslim world,
because he is that pure personality whose excellence and whose rightful
caliphate is recognized by all Muslims. As such, this infallible Imam’s
position is like that of a fundamental Islamic belief, which no Muslim
can deny.
On the occasion of
the birth of this great Imam (a.s.), we extend our congratulations and
felicitations to his grandson, the Imam of our time (a.j.) and to all
the Muslims, especially to the Shias of Ali (a.s.). It is our prayer
that his birth anniversary serves to unite the Muslim nation, to keep
them safe, and to allow their continual development.
We feel obliged to take the opportunity to say a few words for the believers:
1. The
true belief in the grandness and greatness of the Master of Believers
(a.s.) can only enter the heart when the effects of such a belief are
expressed in one’s character, his lifestyle and even the way he walks.
Therefore, his Imamah and one’s being his Shi’ah is only affirmed as
real when a person shape his character into the frame of Sharia. One’s
acceptance of his Imamah is only acceptable if one has Taqwa,
for the Almighty said: “Allah accepts only [the good deeds] from those
with Taqwa.” And the Master of Believers is the Imam of only those with Taqwa. Therefore, we are all obligated to immerse our lives in Taqwa, so we can wear the badge of being his Shi’ah.
2. His
joyous birth anniversary should be a cause of unity and distancing from
hatred and war, because he, along with Allah, the Prophet (s.a.w.a.)
and the Quran, is that pure personality which is a point of consensus of
all Muslims. His sayings, his words of wisdom, his character and his
knowledgeable sermons should be the lanterns to the path to Paradise.
3. The
current situation of the Muslims is a cause of hurt and humiliation for
all humans who have reason and feelings. We see in non-Muslim countries
that people of different faiths and creeds live together with harmony
and peace, while Muslim regions are blighted with the spillage of blood,
degeneration, cursing and swearing at each other, accusing each other
of kufr and shirk, and rather than trying to achieve
unity and cooperation, establishing corruption… all this has become the
norm now. The rulers of most of these Muslim countries are content with
watching the shedding of Muslim blood and they have no realization of
what their obligations are. The situations of the Muslims in Bahrain,
Syria, Qateef, Ahsa, Pakistan and Afghanistan are a source of
embarrassment for us. We do not know for how long this shameful
situation will continue, and we do not know when that day will come when
the Muslims will place their hands in each others’ hands and proceed
forward for the improvement and development of every nation and people,
under the light of the saying of the Almighty: “The Believers are a
Brotherhood.”
My Lord! Bless my
Muslim brother to enable them to enlighten their lives with the
directions of the Quran, the Prophet (s.a.w.a) and Ali ibn Abi Talib
(a.s.).
